Suki and athenahealth Expand Partnership With General Availability of Ambient Notes Using Suki's Ambient Technology

Suki, the leader in artificial intelligence (AI) technology for healthcare, today announced general availability of its ambient technology to all health systems on athenahealth's network, via athenahealth's integrated Ambient Notes solution. This milestone marks an expansion of Suki's longstanding partnership with athenahealth, a leading provider of network-enabled software and services for healthcare practices and systems nationwide. Clinicians have already used Ambient Notes in over 60,000 encounters to document visits with Suki's ambient technology, demonstrating strong adoption and engagement during the beta phase. With this deepened technology integration, all athenahealth users now have the option to harness the power of Suki's ever-evolving intelligent technology without leaving the convenience of their athenaOne mobile app.

This expansion follows over 7 years of Suki integration into athenahealth via their Marketplace offering, Suki Assistant, where more than 2,000 clinicians have seen decreased after-hours for clinical documentation, increased satisfaction, and less overall time spent on administrative burdens while generating more than 2 million clinical encounters. As Suki continues to evolve, the innovations introduced through Suki Assistant will be thoughtfully added to Ambient Notes over time-ensuring athenahealth customers benefit from the latest and most advanced AI technology in the industry, no matter how or where they choose to use Suki.

"In my primary care practice, I was used to spending 4-6 hours on my weekend completing documentation on top of a 50+ hour work week. Now using Ambient Notes, I haven't gone to the clinic on a single weekend and am close to 90-100 percent same-day note completion," said Dr. Janelle Smith, internal medicine primary care provider at Springfield Health Clinic. "In addition to more efficient and accurate documentation, I have also seen more comprehensive and accurate billing. It's really been transformative to my practice, as well as for my patient relationships, a true win-win."

"This milestone with athenahealth marks more than just scale-it signals real transformation for clinicians," said Punit Soni, CEO and Founder of Suki "By embedding Suki deeply into the EHR, we're delivering on the promise of ambient AI: less time on documentation, more time for care. This is what innovation should look like-seamless, intuitive, and focused entirely on the user experience."

athenahealth's recent Physician Sentiment Survey, which analyzed more than 1,000 physicians to better understand the sentiment around AI use and clinical impact, found that nearly half of physicians identified improved clinical documentation/transcription services (48 percent) and reduced administrative burdens (46 percent) as the most valuable use cases for AI in healthcare. athenahealth's Ambient Notes, now generally available with Suki, enables athenahealth clinicians to implement ambient AI into their workflows seamlessly.

"At athenahealth, we're committed to using AI to eliminate complexity for clinicians and enable focus on delivering the highest quality care," said Paul Brient, chief product officer at athenahealth. "Our collaboration with Suki on Ambient Notes is already delivering results for practices, and we look forward to expanding that impact and continuing our work together."

This news comes on the heels of the industry's first-ever capability to generate and stage prescription orders from ambient visits, which Suki first rolled out to athenahealth users via the athenahealth Marketplace. Suki's orders-staging capability allows clinicians to speak their recommended prescription orders to Suki as part of an ambient encounter, which Suki can then structure, code, and stage the order, addressing another key pain point contributing to clinician burnout.
